DPS Raipur Hosts Youth Constitutional Court Conclave to Nurture Legal Acumen

On April 5, 2025, Delhi Public School, Raipur, held a thought-provoking Youth Constitutional Court Conclave aimed at cultivating critical thinking and advocacy skills among students. The event provided a platform for young minds to step into the shoes of legal professionals, as they examined and argued landmark constitutional cases.

Distinguished alumni advocate Ms. Samiksha Singh Gidronia, along with her husband Mr. Sumant Girdonia, graced the occasion as esteemed judges.

The students focused on two landmark cases - Minerva Mills vs Union of India and Sarla Mudgal & Others vs Union of India. The former emphasized the limitations of the Parliament in amending the Constitution, particularly through the lens of the Sick Textile Undertaking Act of 1971. The latter addressed the controversial issue of religious conversion for polygamy, spotlighting the relevance of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in contemporary India.

Participants eloquently presented their arguments, showcasing a deep understanding of constitutional law. Their performances, both as prosecutors and defenders, were met with enthusiastic applause and a standing ovation from an audience of Class XI students who were themselves inspired to explore the field of law.

Principal Mr. Raghunath Mukherjee commended the Social Studies department and student participants for executing such a high-caliber event at the very outset of the academic session. In his address, the Principal remarked, "Enterprising initiatives like these demand precision and professionalism, which our students and mentors have demonstrated with excellence."

The event not only offered a glimpse into the workings of the Indian judiciary but also reinforced the importance of constitutional values in shaping informed and responsible citizens.
